ROCKIE

IP EST. 06.19.25 | FILM CONCEPT

This idea came to me when my ex-gf told me about her friend that took up boxing after a big breakup.
Imagine super-gritty, technical boxing choreography grounded in reality. I envision a transformative physical performance by Rachel Zegler in her career redemption arc.

SUMMARY
Roxanne “ROCKIE” Valentina's life is in free fall.
She’s overworked and underpaid by a tech-bro boss who calls her “mami” in Slack DMs. Her fiancé cheats with her maid of honor. Her lease is up. Her savings are gone. So she does what no strong woman wants to do: she moves back into her childhood bedroom.
One night, as she doom-scrolls job sites and apartment listings, she stumbles on an ESPN 30 for 30 about Adonis Creed. Moved by his perseverance, she impulsively signs up for boxing classes at a dicey neighborhood gym run by ex-pros and overlooked hopefuls. To everyone’s surprise (including her own) Rockie is good.
But more than that, she finds peace in the pain. Every rope skip, jab drill, and round of padwork brings her closer to her true self: resilient, powerful, focused.
As she trains through the heartbreak, the doubt, and the imposter syndrome, her coach tells her she’s ready for a real amateur fight. Scared but determined, she enters a small circuit bout. Not to win, but to prove she belongs.
In a quiet but emotionally massive finale, she goes the distance— and though bruised, she stands tall. A shoutout on Adonis Creed’s Instagram makes her knees buckle.
She doesn’t need a belt; just a chance to punch her way back.
